Executive Men’s Wellness Breakfast 2025

We held our annual Executive Men’s Wellness Breakfast session on the 3rd of June 2025 in partnership with Vitality Wellness. The sessions had candid discussions facilitated by Dr Marwisa and Mr Marara on wellness matters related to Post Employment Planning and Retirement

Post-employment and retirement planning is becoming increasingly complex with world-wide perspectives shifting due to factors like longer lifespans, changing work environments, and varying social security systems. Successfully navigating this landscape requires a proactive, personalized approach that considers individual needs, financial goals, and other unique individual factors.

The traditional notion of retirement is expected to undergo significant changes in the years to come. A flexible approach to retirement is anticipated, with insights that individuals will cycle in and out of retirement phases throughout their lives, influenced by longer life spans and changing work patterns. Financial preparedness is a concern to sustain a comfortable retirement, reflecting the challenges posed by increased longevity and economic volatility.

Some of the key takeaways from the breakfast session were:

1. Needs Assessment: Identify your desired lifestyle in retirement and estimate the associated costs.
2. Savings Goals: Establish specific savings targets and timelines for reaching them based on your needs assessment.
3. Investment Strategies: Choose appropriate investment options. In the current Zimbabwean context these could include, real estate, farming and offshore investments.
4. Seek Professional Advice: Consult with retirement planning advisors and financial experts for personalized guidance and structuring of your retirement journey. This also applies particularly for business owners in terms of succession planning and gradual release of executive duties in your companies.
5. Consider Post-Retirement Impact and Activities: Plan what are you retiring to rather than just focusing on what you are retiring from. Look for something that brings fulfilment to you e.g. raising the next generation of business leaders.
